as an event planner, i'm always throwing baby showers.
my keen eye for detail has picked up on a trend.
the daddy to be always gets left out.
unless its a co-ed shower...but in 9 out of 10 cases, its not.
mommy to be gets showered with a lovely party, sentiments, gifts and delicious food.
daddy to be gets to pick her up at the end of her shower acting as a pack mule...
loading the car(s) up with the never ending pile of goods from babies r us.
then unloading it all at the house, usually by himself.
good times.
i wanted to create something fun so the awaiting father could be included!
i usually have the dad to be arrive at the tail end of the shower while gifts are still being opened.
then i hand them this.
"a daddy doody kit"
i purchased the clear paint pail at a craft store.
they are about $5.00.
they are about $5.00.
for the "open in case of emergency" tag
i used an all cap font in red printed off my home printer.
I used a large round hole punch to cut it out.

its taped to the top with double sided foam dots.
for the "daddy doody kit" tag i just free hand tore the paper around the words.
on the side of the pail with the seam,
i added a "contains:" list.
here is what was included in this one:

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on making one right after Christmas!
The mother should be showered!! She is the one carrying the baby after all! LOL
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note, this is a great gift idea and I wish I would have found it before my two best friends had their first babies in 2011!
ya this is true but it is good to get the dad included into the showering
DeleteThis will be perfect for my brother and his wife's baby shower!!! Such a cute idea and fits him perfectly. Thank you :)
DeleteWhere did you find the container? This is such a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteThe container is from Michael's Craft Store, you can find them at most any craft store. Amazon has them as well. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. We're planning a baby shower and the dad will be there. We've been trying to think of something for him and this is perfect. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI started giving dad gifts after my daughters first baby. I found a great book for first time dads, it's called Be Prepared and of course I forgot the authors name but it's laid out like a boy scout manual. My son-in-law loved his copy. It covers every thing from what to do if you run out of diapers to how to deal with post partum depression.
ReplyDeleteI loved this.Went and bought my pails yesterday.Cant wait to fill them.Thank you for sharing your ideas.
ReplyDeleteSuper Cute! My husband side of the family has what they call "Diaper Parties" for the guys. While I was having my baby Shower he and his friends and everyones husbands were out playing disc golf. Everyone was asked to bring him a bag or box of diapers. They played golf for my nephew's. Needless to say I don't need diapers untill we get to size 3's!
ReplyDeleteI was just going to mention this too! My husband and his friends all get together for Diaper parties as well. They each pick a different size so that there is not a ton of size 1's. Great idea.. and of course they have a few beers too
DeleteI started making something similar 25 yrs ago because the Dads were always left out. I used a canvas apron with pockets the kind that goes around the neck and ties in the back. I painted a Warning New Dad in Training sign on it. I used nose plugs, goggles and ear plugs that you buy for pool use. I bought baby pins to hang them off the apron. I included a bottle of beer or a mini bottle of alcohol for when baby is finally asleep for dad..a bib, a small children's book to read to baby, a cd of soothing music, baby rattle and a small empty photo frame to hold a picture of dad wearing the apron for posterity. The possibilities of what you can put in and hang on the apron were endless..once I couldnt find an apron that was plain so I bought a canvas tool belt holder that ties around the waste. The guys always loved the gift and everyone always got a good laugh!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Love it!
DeleteI LOVE this idea!!
DeleteI make something similar but I use a large solid color grill apron and embroider "Daddy on Doody" I use goggles, face mask, rubber gloves, tongs, small bags that I label "toxic waste" and assorted other goodies.
ReplyDeleteYou should see these on Etsy! This is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. My nephew is going to be a first time Daddy to triplet girls, and I was looking for something to give him. You all have given me wonderful inspiration. Thank you and God Bless!!
ReplyDeleteI did something similiar but instead of pail, I got a tool belt and filled that with items, so he wore the belt durning the whole shower even a cloths pin for the nose for smell LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful idea! I used this for my sister's 1st baby's baby shower and her husband loved it! He was most excited about the nose plug! Thanks for all the great ideas!
ReplyDeleteHow big is the paint can?
ReplyDeleteWhat font did you use?
ReplyDeleteI love the idea, I know mom should be showered but dad also needs to be showered to after all he has to put up with mom and all the crazy things her body takes her through.
ReplyDeleteDo you sale them?
