purple ombre overload

when a dear friend of mine asked me to make the cupcakes for her daughter's first birthday party, visions of ombre danced through my head.
here in hawaii a baby's first birthday is a very, VERY big deal....so i really wanted to make it special.
i decided a small dessert station would do nicely.
purple is my friends favorite color (understatement of the century) and was used throughout the tea themed party.

i used a simple cardboard tri fold presentation board for the back drop.
i made the ruffles with crepe paper streamers and glue sticks.
tutorial coming soon!
mini vanilla cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.
the cake pops are also vanilla with cream cheese frosting.
a local party supply store had a color coordinated candy section. that's where i found the gumballs i placed in this pretty apothecary jar.
i'm so happy the birthday girl's three layer little smash cake turned out so darling!
i used 4 inch round cake pans.
to make the blended layers i piped on one color at a time from bottom to top: dark purple, lavender and white tinted frosting.
each section was about an inch wide.
i then used a toothpick to swirl and blend the colors together.

the three layers inside are also dark purple, lavender and white.
sorry for the poor quality...i took it with my phone.
hau'oli la hanau precious zemmy!
you are a blessing to everyone you meet.
the Lord has placed a bright light for Him deep in your heart.
i see it in your beautiful little face every time i look at you.
shine bright for him little star!
our family loves you and we are so glad we get to watch you grow up.
